Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular forms of plastic surgery in addition to being one of the most complex. If you have been considering a surgical or liquid nose job, or you simply want to learn more about the procedure, this latest podcast from The Doc Dudes is a great place to start.
All About Rhinoplasty
Because Dr. Robert Graper is one of Charlotte’s most talented rhinoplasty surgeons (having previously trained under some of the pioneers of the modern nose job), Dr. Garrett Harper directs most of the questions on this subject to his colleague. Throughout the podcast, Dr. Graper discusses types of rhinoplasty and the kinds of changes achievable with rhinoplasty.
The goal is to create a nose shape that aligns with your gender and that creates a proportional, harmonious face. Computer imaging technology has made it easy to model what the nose will look like so patients know what to expect. The team stresses the importance of having a skilled surgeon with an advanced knowledge of nasal anatomy to avoid the “botched Hollywood” noses that look pinched. And for extra incentive to listen to the podcast, Dr. Harper adds an anecdote about Michael Jackson’s nose that you’ll just have to hear to believe.
What About Liquid Nose Jobs?
For the second half of the podcast, The Doc Dudes are joined by long-time Graper Harper Cosmetic Surgery RN Linda Owens. She is such a skilled injector that Allergan Medical Institute chose her to train the next generation of injectors how to safely and effectively administer Allergan injectables like Botox and JUVÉDERM.
Until five years ago, Linda performed liquid rhinoplasty, a combination of dermal filler injections that correct nasal irregularities. Although fillers did achieve attractive results for her patients, she eventually decided to stop offering this service after learning about the risks of intervascular injection, which occurs when filler accidentally gets into a vessel. This is more dangerous in the nose than in other areas like the lips and cheeks because it could potentially cause blindness.
Linda says the risks are low when performed by an expert, but she still doesn’t feel these risks are worthwhile given that she works with a top rhinoplasty surgeon who can beautifully and permanently reshape the nose with rhinoplasty.
