Once you are comfortably sedated, our board certified plastic surgeons Dr. Garrett Harper and Dr. Evon Zoog will carefully make small incisions in your treatment area. They will then insert a cannula (thin, hollow tube) in through the incision so it reaches into the underlying layer of fat. The cannula, which is connected to a surgical vacuum at the other end, is then carefully maneuvered to help break up the fatty deposits and remove them from your body.

Dr. Evon Zoog completed his undergraduate work at UNC Charlotte before receiving his medical degree at UNC Chapel Hill. He then moved to Chattanooga to complete his general surgery residency and felt his passion for plastic surgery grow. He was selected to train in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the prestigious University of Alabama at Birmingham where, under the direction of Dr. Jorge de la Torre, he had the privilege of being trained and mentored by some of the top plastic surgeons in the country. He completed over 100 free flap breast reconstruction procedures alongside Dr. R. Jobe Fix, one of the premier microsurgeons in the United States. He also trained with Drs. James Grotting, Al Cohn and Brad Denney where he became skilled in the most advanced and up-to-date techniques and technologies in aesthetic surgery. During his training, he authored over fourteen peer-reviewed articles in some of the most highly regarded medical journals as well as devoted time to research projects in the field.
Our liposuction is usually performed in our fully accredited, state of the art, surgical facility in Charlotte. This procedure is performed under general anesthesia which allows you to be comfortable and safe throughout the surgical experience.
After surgery, the patient is fitted with a compression garment. This helps to ensure the liposuction scar will heal properly as the incision must remain tension and pressure-free during the early weeks of healing. Patients generally require 10 days off of work after surgery. Walking is permitted and encouraged the day after surgery, but strenuous activity and heavy lifting are limited for six weeks. Swelling will be present initially following surgery and subsides during healing. The final results are typically seen 3 months after surgery.
Most patients are concerned with the length and placement of the surgical scar. Dr. Harper and Dr. Zoog are skilled surgeons are skilled surgeons who take tremendous care in limiting the size and visibility of the surgical scar, choosing to keep the incision below the bikini line.
